Welcome to Summer in Ancient Egypt! This 4-week course will be an overview of the culture in Egypt during ancient times and provide students an opportunity to connect events in the past with our everyday lives. We will be using Common Core State Standards to practice skills that are essential in Social Studies and in education. This course will also provide support in ELA skills so students don’t miss a beat during the summer! Using a combination of presentation, discussion, video, and games we will create an experience that will be educational as well as fun! As stated in my teaching profile, it is my firm belief that education should be enjoyable for all learners. Too often skills learned while studying history are left out of the educational experience. This summer students will be able to learn valuable and applicable skills not just for the classroom but for life.
Learning Goals
This class will include lessons that reinforce skills stated in CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.6.1-8.1- 8.10. Students will determine the central idea of primary and secondary texts, cite evidence to support an analysis of a text, and much more!
