This two session summer camp grammar class is focused on comma rules. We will focus on four of the most common comma situations. Students will be introduced to several comma rules and will have ample time to practice correctly applying them in sentences. Session 1: 1. Using commas to combine two independent clauses with a coordinating conjunction 2. Using commas to separate three or more words in a list Session 2: 1. Using commas around phrases that are not essential to the sentence; not using them around essential phrases 2. Using commas after an introductory clause Class content will be taught through a colorful, fun PowerPoint presentation and class lecture and discussion. We will also play a game where students will attempt to correctly place commas in sentences. If they answer correctly, they will earn points for their team. Including a game in the lesson will encourage more class interaction and fun.
