Class Experience

Summer is the perfect time to learn how to sew!
We'll learn how to operate a sewing machine, cut fabric, and by the end of camp you will have created a super-cute purse!
We will meet twice a week, for two weeks (a total of 4 classes).
Class 1 : Sewing machine basics: bobbin winding, machine threading, parts of a sewing machine, sew a straight stitch. During this class you will set up your machine and we'll make sure your machine working correctly.
Class 2: Fabric cutting: how to measure, importance of grainline, direction of print, use of patterns. During this class you will layout your fabric and cut out your project - an adorable purse!
Class 3: Basic stitching: how to sew a straight line, pivot, attach pieces of fabric together. During this class you will begin sewing your purse project. We will focus on stitching and how to properly use the sewing machine.
Class 4: More stitching: right side/wrong side of fabric, working on the reverse, turning right side out. During this class you will continue working on your purse project. We'll learn basic construction and finish the project!
This is a "sew along with me" type class. Each class, the instructor will show step-by-step instruction for the project.
Learners will then follow along, working on their project.
Instructor will check the progress before going on to the next step.
If a learner falls behind the pace of the class, the instructor will try to help the learner get caught up during class or may ask the learner to watch the video recording after class.
Instructor provides tips, tricks and advice while the learners work on their project.
Most sewing projects will require minimum supplies and we try to keep supply costs under $20 total. A sewing machine and basic sewing supplies are needed.
At the conclusion of each meeting, learners may be given a small amount of "homework".
Socialization is highly encouraged throughout the meeting & learners are asked to leave their cameras on and socialize.
The teaching style is casual with lots of fun and laughs!
Summer Sewing Camp welcomes all levels of sewing skills. Come have fun, learn new skills, and socialize!

Hello! My name is Ms Lauren Kimberly Iseley and I live in Oklahoma, USA. I am a mother of a 22 year old and a 15 year old. I home schooled both of my children from kindergarten to college. I love teaching and I am known for being very patient and encouraging.

I hold a degree in Accounting and a degree in Business Administration (Quantitative Analysis).

I really enjoy crafting and being super-creative! Creativity helps expand our minds and helps us solve everyday problems with "out of the box" solutions. Creativity is something that needs to be nurtured in every child.

I also teach math. If your student is struggling in math, it is most likely because they aren't having fun learning! Consider this....you can remember the words to a song but you can't remember basic math calculations. That is because the songs were set to music and your brain associated the song with fun....I teach math based on this principle.

I am an award-winning cake artist and love crafting and baking. I am excited to get to know your student and help them achieve their goals!
