Let's go on a reading adventure! In this class, students will be exposed to: * reading comprehension discussion and questioning (exposing students to main idea and key details, comparing and contrasting, sequencing, etc.) * to the world around them (ex. dentist, firefighters, hibernation, etc.) * a craft/coloring activity related to the book's topic or character. Books that will be read in class are: Curious George: Day 1 - Curious George by H. A. Rey Craft - Curious George paper bag puppet Day 2 - Curious George and the Firefighters by Margret & H. A. Hello! Nice to meet you! I am Ilene. I love all subjects, but my passion is everything related to Language Arts. I am excited to teach all my students about the wonderful world of the written word. We are going to travel through the pages of a book to learn about the real world and the fantastic world of fictional stories. I have earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from Florida International University and I am certified in Elementary Education and hold an Endorsement in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) (K-12). I have been an elementary school teacher for 15 years and have taught Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Math, Science, STEM, ESOL and even Spanish! Learning is a journey and everyone's path is different, but I believe that meaningful, fun, interactive lessons can empower students to be lifelong learners and readers.
