Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
In this 18-day online course, learners will become active participants in their own learning by creating an interactive notebook which then becomes a great resource for reviewing and studying the covered concepts. No prior knowledge is required. Page numbers given refer to the required workbook.

From the author: "The intent of the Interactive Notebook series is to help students make sense of new information. Textbooks often present more facts and data than students can process at one time. The books in this series introduce each science concept in an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format that does not overwhelm the learner. The text presents only the most important information, making it easier for students to comprehend. Vocabulary words are printed in boldfaced type...Color helps the brain remember better...The format of the interactive notebook involves both the right-brain and left-brain hemispheres to help students process information."

I have a relaxed teaching style and there will be opportunities for questions during the class. I can also be reached by email. Learners will benefit most if they read over the assigned material prior to each class time.
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their understanding of the human body in 7 general categories: body organisms, skeletal/muscular systems, digestive/excretory systems, respiratory/circulatory systems, lymphatic/immune systems, nervous/endocrine systems, and reproductive systems.

Supply List
NOTE: I do NOT receive additional benefits through commissions or the like. I am NOT an affiliate for any website or subscription company package NOR am I an owner of any online store.

Each learner will need an empty notebook (spiral bound, composition, or binder with loose leaf paper) with at least 35 blank pages. They will also need scissors, glue stick, colored pencils (markers are not recommended), and 3 tabs (for marking the first lesson of each unit).
Each learner will need to purchase their own interactive workbook for use in class. The specific workbook needed can be found at this website: <https://www.rainbowresource.com/product/005140/Interactive-Notebook-Human-Body.html?>. You will be using both the front and back of each page. Each learner may either buy two copies of the book OR the learner may hand write the notes from one side of the notebook page to their Input page (right page) and using the other side of the notebook page for their Output page (left page). Each unit consists of two pages.
