Through completing class activities, students will practice reading comprehension skills, identifying plot events, describing characters, determining problems, defining vocabulary words, and recognizing themes in books. - Students will improve their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and participating in discussions.
- Students will gain knowledge of new vocabulary words by defining unknown words and participating in discussions.
- Students will learn/review plot elements (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) by participating in discussions.

Students need to be able to read a 4th grade level text independently.
2 files available upon enrollmentA copy of Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. This book can be found at the library, local bookstore or online. A pen/pencil The instructor will be supplying background information videos, reading comprehension questions, and vocabulary graphic organizers.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will play Blooket to review key information from the readings. They don't need an account to play the game. Bridge to Terabithia mentions Christmas, Easter, God and the Bible. One character is hit by her father. One of the main characters also drowns in chapter 10.
