Class Experience

What will be taught? In this class we will learn some basic steps of Hip Hop including floor work and more. In addition we will be covering basic jazz steps that includes turns, jumps and more. Even for hip hop it is great to have a nice strong foundation of Dance (ballet or jazz). And Of Course Play Games for our Beach Party. TRAIL CLASS FOR 2021-2022 DANCE YEAR.

What topics will you cover? In Hip Hop we will be covering basic ground work such as Seat spins, coffee grinders, and more, In addition we will focus on step claps, jumps and more. In Jazz we will work on the following steps: Basic arm positions in 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 6th, Isolations in the Head, shoulder, ribcage and hips, 3 step turn, Pivot turn, Pas de bourree, Pirouette's, Jumps, leaps, and grand battements and more.

How is your class structured? This class will involve 10min of warm up. 30 min working on technique and the routine. 10-15min of games. Please note, many steps learned in Hip hop are jazz or ballet steps considering ballet is the foundation of all styles. Therefore, our hip hop combinations will have a touch of pas de chat turns and pas de bora's to make them more lively and special.

How will you teach? I will be teaching through a live Zoom class. I encourage all students all students to have their video camera and microphone on, but it is not required after attendance.

What's your teaching style? I believe all types of dance, can be fun if taught properly. We will be doing a balancing game and Simon says. In every step we do I will focus on breaking down each part. for example a Shuffle in Tap involves a Brush and a Spank. I also named my left and right sides to avoid confusion verses being mirrored/not mirrored through the camera. I also encourage my students to speak up in my class in they are confused with anything, or they feel that they are ready to be challenged even more. For example, if balancing in Passé is easy then we can add on by making it a Pirouette turn.

How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? We will be interacting throughout class by the use of the combination as a group as well as playing many games, like our train ride. In addition, I will interact with each student individual by giving them comments of praise and small corrections to help us grow as a dancer or a class.

Any required experience or knowledge learners need? There is no experience required for this dance class. In addition, Students will be participating in a physical fitness/movement activities though out the class. Please be aware that your child can end up injuring themselves. Therefore please make sure your child has sufficient dance space, proper foot ware (choice of ballet shoes or barefoot/socks, Tap shoes or sneakers). I encourage all students to have a water bottle near by and the student warmed up before class to avoid injury’s. Parental supervision is strongly encourage to help your dancer assure there safety and spatial awareness.
