Class Experience

Is your child struggling with reading or math? Maybe your child is not feeling confident in their reading or math abilities or they want to accelerate their learning. My one on one tutoring can provide strategies and tools to improve foundational skills needed to be successful in math or reading. Children need to feel confident to take academic risk in order to make growth in their learning. I believe in meeting learners at their current academic level and providing an encouraging learning environment to facilitate meaningful learning. Through a variety of interactive activities (slides, games and discussion) students will build their understanding of foundational skills needed to be successful in reading and math.

When you register your child please indicate what areas your child needs assistance in. Some examples are letter and sound recognition, phonics, comprehension strategies, reading accuracy strategies, fluency strategies, number sense, 1 to 1 correspondence with counting, one or two digit addition and subtraction (with and without regrouping), word problems, telling time, money, multiplication facts, division facts.
Learning Goals
Students will lean the fundamentals of any math or reading skills they may be struggling with or want to accelerate in. By working at their own pace they will build their academic confidence.

Hello! My name is Hilary, and teaching is my passion! I was drawn to this profession because I believe in creating safe, encouraging, and positive environments that inspire learners to grow academically. My goal is to help students develop a lifelong love of learning by providing a well-balanced, supportive, and engaging learning environment. As an upbeat teacher, I am devoted to promoting student learning and enhancing individual potential. The greatest experience as a teacher is seeing students build confidence and believe in themselves as learners.

I have eleven years of teaching experience in elementary education and hold a Master's of Science in Education. I take every opportunity to continue learning and have taught second grade, a combined second and third grade class, fourth grade, and intervention in a Title 1 program. As a certified K-8 teacher, I am equipped to teach reading, writing, phonics, math, social studies, and science.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my husband and daughter. I also enjoy taking my golden retrievers, Sassy and Rhythm, for walks.

Thank you for considering me as your teacher, and I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
