In this one on one class, the student will work on reading fluency and reading comprehension skills by reading a non-fiction text. The student will showcase their new knowledge by writing a text based paragraph.

The focus of the class is to strengthen the student’s reading comprehension skills through the use of non-fiction articles. The student will practice reading strategies during all three stages of reading: pre-reading, reading of the article, and post reading. We will focus on one article a week. Students will work on their reading fluency by reading part of the article out loud to the teacher. The teacher will also read part of the article to be a model fluent reader. Homework Offered
Read a book for 20-30 minutes each day. Make sure you are ready to tell me all about the books you are reading.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

The teacher is patient and uses the I do, We do, You do method. The child's unique way of learning will be supported through verbal support. The teacher will provide examples through a variety of measures, including images and written form.
Pencil, writing paper or notebook, highlighter or markers. The article will be sent out prior to the session if the student would like to print the article, but this is not mandatory. The teacher will have the article available digitally.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
