Picture books are great for teaching hard topics, especially for younger students. In this ongoing class, we will read a new book each week and engage in rich discussions about the story and other topics that arise from the content. We will stop periodically to answer comprehension questions, compare and contrast, discuss the author's purpose, and identify the main idea. Selected books will also include positive character traits that we will explore while learning about social justice. Here are some of the books we will read: Mommy's Khimar Go Show The World Before She Was Harriett Someone New Busing Brewster Lila and the Crow Yaffa and Fatima, Shalom, Salaam
