Storytelling by the Indoor Campfire
Bring your flashlights and let's get ready for a morning by the indoor fire! We will begin with storytelling by the "indoor" fire. Students will then virtually travel Yosemite State Park in California.

Bring your flashlights and let's get ready for a day by the indoor fire! This session starts with a campfire song. Then a short campfire story. They will then virtually travel to Yosemite National Park in California. During our campout students will find clues regarding their favorite camping locations in the park. They will spot various animals, learn how to cook a campfire meal, and pitch a tent. Children will be taught skills for reading brochures, magazines, travel books and other informational texts about one of California's greatest camping locations. Students will leave with a campfire craft, a Yosemite camping guide, and interesting facts they learned about the park.
Learning Goals
Students will identify key locations in Yosemite National Park.Students read expository texts such as travel brochures and guides to learn about national parks.

Parental Guidance
Youtube clip will be used to teach the song "The Green Grass Goes All Around". Also a Youtube clip will be used to show key locations in Yosemite.
Supply List
A hand-out with songs, craft instructions, and key information on Yosemite will be given.
