1-2 hours per week. Homework in this course will be designed to enhance the students learning experience and extend your creativity beyond our live sessions. Here's how we'll approach it: Unfinished Class Work: Throughout the course, you'll engage in exciting activities and writing exercises during our live sessions. Sometimes, due to time constraints, we might not be able to finish them in class. These activities will serve as your unfinished class work, allowing you to continue exploring your ideas and building on your stories at your own pace. Completing these tasks will help reinforce the concepts we discuss and give you a chance to experiment with your creative ideas. Book Exploration for Personal Stories: As part of your writing journey, I'll encourage you to look beyond our class materials and explore the world of literature. Homework will involve searching for books that align with your personal stories, chosen genres, or writing style. These books will serve as sources of inspiration, offering valuable insights into storytelling techniques, character development, world-building, and more. Sharing your discoveries with the class will inspire others and create a wonderful sense of community.

Welcome to my enchanting world of "Storybook Adventures Creative Writing Class"! Over the span of 16 weeks, I will guide elementary students on an exciting journey of storytelling. Together, we will explore various genres and craft imaginative narratives that will leave a lasting impact. Through engaging activities, interactive discussions, and personalized guidance, young writers will develop essential writing skills and unleash their creativity. 

What I Will Teach:

I will introduce you to the fundamental elements of storytelling: characters, setting, and problem.
I will teach techniques to create vivid descriptions and weave in sensory details to make your stories come alive.
I will help you craft compelling beginnings, build exciting middles, and create satisfying endings for your narratives.
Together, we'll explore how to incorporate morals and lessons into fables, making your stories not only entertaining but meaningful too.
We'll dive into the characteristics and structures of different genres, including fairy tales, science fiction, and adventure stories.
I'll show you how to use descriptive language effectively to bring settings to life, transporting your readers to magical worlds.
You'll learn about peer review and collaborative editing techniques, allowing you to learn from and support each other's work.
Lastly, we'll explore basic book formatting and binding to celebrate your achievements in style.

Welcome to my virtual classroom! 

My name is Miss Jesse. On outschool I teach digital storytelling, creative writing, guided reading, cooking classes and fine arts . I hold bachelors in fashion design and business, as well as education with a concentration in both infant/child development and psychology. I am currently pursuing my masters in curriculum and instruction. I do believe I bring a unique blend of creativity and educational passion to our learning journey.
As a strong believer in holistic teaching and learning, I strive to create a learning environment that encourages all learners to make meaningful connections in the subjects we explore by utilizing your creative skills. In my classes, you can expect lively discussions and exciting student centered activities that will empower every learner to take an active role in their education!
Beyond my love for teaching, I'm also a self-taught painter, and I'm passionate about sharing my artistic knowledge with you. I conduct paint classes both locally and virtually!
When I'm not teaching or painting, you can find me in the vibrant city of New York, where I reside with my daughters and my adorable kitty, Simba.
