Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
In this sample beginning reading class, your child will listen to a story reading of "Jumping Jill" by Audrey and Don Wood, practice 3 sight words (I, can, jump), and work on the letter Jj. There will also be a guided reading session.

Class Experience:
The focus for this class is the letter Jj and the sight word 'jump.' Class begins with storytelling to capture your child's interest. There will be a short discussion about the story. Conversations are very important for young children's language development, and so I aim for this class to be very interactive. We will work on three sight words: I, can, and jump. There will be a guided reading portion, during which time each child will be encouraged to read a sentence. The last portion of the class will be devoted to Letter Jj. There's an optional set of worksheets for download if you wish to extend learning at home.

This class is designed for preschoolers. No background knowledge is required.
Learning Goals
Listening Comprehension: To provide a reason why the main characters liked to jump.
