Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
I LOVE reading. It is one of my favorite activities. When I was a teen, I read to my sisters (10 and 13 years younger than me) when they were little... I read to my 4 kids when they were little too. My family tells me that listening to me reading is such a fun time because I get so into the characters, and apparently I am good at it. :) I am now an audiobook narrator, and having a blast!

Parents are so busy right now, with the ever growing *to do lists* . There are seriously not enough hours in the day! SO, I wanted to help out with one simple activity. I want to read to your kiddo!

(Also- just to make sure you know- I will not receive additional benefits through commissions or the like as an affiliate for an order, subscription company package, and I am not an owner of an online store. )

For June 26-July 17th-
For this series we will be reading together- "The House At the Edge of Magic" written by Amy Sparkes.
Here is the synopsis: "Nine is an orphan pickpocket determined to escape her life in the Nest of a Thousand Treasures. When she steals a house-shaped ornament from a mysterious woman’s purse, she knocks on its tiny door and watches it grow into a huge, higgledy-piggeldy house. Inside she finds a host of magical and brilliantly funny characters, including Flabberghast – a young wizard who’s particularly competitive at hopscotch – and a hideous troll housekeeper who’s emotionally attached to his feather duster. They have been placed under an extraordinary spell, which they are desperate for Nine to break – and if she can, maybe they can offer her a new life in return…"
This is the first book in a series of three.

For July 24-August 14
For the second book in the series we will be reading together- "The Tower at the End of Time: 1 (The House at the Edge of Magic)" by Amy Sparkes
Here is the Synopsis-
Nine and her friends have broken the curse on their marvellous, magical House, and are free to travel the worlds once more! Their first stop: The Wizarding Hopscotch Championships.
There's only one problem: the House is nervous about travelling – and gets the hiccups! Bouncing from world to world with every "HIC!", they finally land at the championships, only for Flabberghast to have an unfortunate run-in with square number seven, and find himself faced with the terrible Tower at the End of Time.
But maybe here they can find out how to cure the House's hiccups, and Nine might finally discover who left her the beloved music box, and who she really is...

August 21-18 (There will be no class Sept 4)
For the third book in the series The Bookshop at the Back of Beyond by Amy Sparkes
Here is the Synopsis-
"A hidden key. A shop of secrets. A turnip that bites back. The land of Beyond is a place of extraordinary magic with shops selling everything from powerful potions to books full of adventure, enchantment, and remarkable secrets.
But Nine and the gang don't have time to explore. They're there to find just one thing: their friend, Professor Dish, who's been taken captive by a VERY unpredictable witch....

You can just come and listen, or bring a copy to read along with me. :)

Hello! My name is Dina, and I am excited to have you here! First and foremost, I am a mama to 4 kidlings. Most are grown and 3 have left the nest, but I have 1 left at home. I love teaching kids. I love the "aha" on a child's face when they understand a new concept. I love the personalities that I come across. I have been teaching English online for several years to children ages 3-16. I have also been a preschool teacher for over 20 years.
If I could have had another career, I might have been a librarian, because I LOVE reading! Reading is one of my favorite hobbies!
Some of my other hobbies include hiking, gardening, my pets, and cooking!
I believe in finding the spark of curiosity that lives in every child, and encouraging it to grow. I hope to inspire my students through engagement with reading, learning, cooking, a positive mindset, play and laughter.
When I am not teaching classes I am a wedding officiant! I get to marry people~ which is so rewarding and special. :)
I have an ECE degree, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Masters in Business, and a Doctorate in Divinity. I also have my TESOL and TOEFL certifications.
I hope you will be inspired to have a class with me, and I am hopeful your child will have as much fun with me, as I plan to with them!
See you in the classroom!
Sincerely, Dina
