In this interactive art history class we will learn about the five most-wanted missing paintings in the world and discuss each piece of art using creative vocabulary such as 'vivid', 'pensive' 'detailed' or 'realistic'. The paintings and artists that we will learn about are: The Concert by Johannes Vermeer; The Storm on the Sea of Galilee by Rembrandt; Nativity by Caravaggio; Portrait of a Young Man by Raphael and Harlequin Head by Pablo Picasso. In addition to exploring each of these works of art and the artists themselves, learners will find out how these paintings were stolen and there will be an honourable mention of the Mona Lisa which was also stolen in 1911 but thankfully recovered two years later (an event which made this painting one of the most famous in the world!) This class is open to everyone, no prior experience is needed. The class will use a combination of slides, photographs of the painting and videos. There will be an interactive quiz at the end and questions and thoughts are encouraged throughout this class. Learners will be asked to keep their cameras and microphones on to encourage conversation in this interactive class. You do not need to bring any materials to class.
