In this 4 day stock market camp students will continue their stock market learning by with virtual 100K to invest in, stocks, mutual funds, bonds in stock market simulation game and learn about retirement accounts.

Class Experience

💥Required: Beginner level Stock Market Part 1 & Part 2 class before enrolling in this class💥

In this 4 day lesson students will continue their learning the fundamentals of the stock market, how it works, why we invest and practice buying and selling shares of companies in real time trading with virtual 100K to invest in stock market simulation game.
Students will be given $100,000 in virtual cash to begin investing / trading stocks.  Each student is responsible for researching and evaluating potential investments. Students will make decisions on whether to buy, sell, or hold the stocks, funds, and bonds in the portfolio they have created.

Lesson 1 / Day 1 - Bonds, Diversification, & Asset Allocation
Students will be able to explain what a bond is and how an investor makes money from it 
Read a bond fund fact sheet and understand the importance of diversifying your investment portfolio.

Lesson 2 / Day 2 -  Investing in Funds
Students will be able to explain what Mutual Funds, Index Funds, Exchange Traded Funds, and Target Dates Funds are and understand the impact a brokerage fee has on your investment returns.

Lesson 3 / Day 3 - Deep Dive into Funds
Students will be able to work with your classmates to see how a Mutual Fund functions 
Understand the mix of stocks in a popular Index Fund - the S&P 500
Explain how investing in funds can help you minimize risk and diversify your portfolio

Current events that affect  stock market prices

Lesson 4 / Day 4 Types of Retirement Accounts
Students will be able to explain what a brokerage account is and how you can open one 
Identify different types of retirement accounts and their characteristics
Current events that affect  stock market prices
Students will evaluate their overall stock performance during the game and present it to the class.


💥PRIOR KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT💥 
Learners are required to have completed the Beginner level Stock Market Part 1 & Part 2 class before enrolling in this class  Teacher may be withdraw learner from class by if have not completed Beginner level class or have prior knowledge of the Stock Market.

My class is structured to be a stress free, fun, and interactive learning environment to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.  

How will you teach?
I will teach using slide presentation, interactive games and discussion for question and answer sessions.

What's your teaching style?
I believe that every child learns differently.  I do my best to accommodate individual learning styles.  

How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? 
I  teach with guiding the students in discussion, visual aids and hands on activity. Students will have the opportunity to interact and discuss with other classmates with answering.

Parental Guidance
Please be prepared to help your learner set up their device before class starts so learners can see and toggle between the Zoom window and their web browser during class. Learners will receive username and password to their How the Market Works virtual stock market simulation trading challenge, where they will practice buy and selling real time stocks with virtual 100K cash.

My stock market game past participants earned 1st place in the state stock market game simulations with the highest percentage of profits competing against over 1200 teams.
