Class Experience

In this weekly class, students will get to play games and interact with their peers.

We will start each week with a hello song that has actions that go along with it.

Next students will have a chance to show us something, this may be a favorite toy, stuffed animal, coloring page, or anything they would like to show off or are really into at the moment.

Next, we will do several games or activities, activities will vary from week to week but may include:
Color scavenger hunt
Freeze Dance
Dizzy Dinosaur, a spinning game
Quickly, Slowly - a clapping and action game
Action Songs
Action songs may include Baby Shark, Slippery Fish, The Wheels on the bus, and other common action songs. Songs can be suggested by parents if your student has any certain favorites they love let me know and I will include them if possible.

We will finish class with a goodbye song with hand motions.

If your student has any specific needs or triggers that I should be aware of please let me know before class so we can work together to ensure the best possible class experience.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an autistic adult who has been working with special needs children for 10 years. I started teaching sewing lessons when I was a homeschool senior and discovered that I had a passion for teaching in general but especially for working with students with additional needs. Since then I have worked as a preschool teacher, a private tutor, a community support worker for autistic children and teens, and a teacher's aide working one on one and in small groups with students who needed extra help. I also spent 3 years as an in-home caregiver for a little boy who was non-verbal and wheelchair-bound.

Not only do I have both personal and professional experience with autism but I also have 12 years of teaching experience and an associate's degree in special education. I have worked with many autistic children and teens who are all in different places on the spectrum and have different, unique, strengths, and challenges, many of these students have been non verable or had limited verbal ability. I have also been working with autistic and other special needs students on Outschool since January 2020, if you have any concerns please feel free to contact me or to read the reviews on any of my other autism-related classes, especially my autism social groups, as they have the most feedback.
