In this class, students will learn about robotics and how to program mBot using Scratch! (Ages 8-12)

What are mBot and mBot Ranger? They are fun robots kids can use to learn programming through the use of games and applications. They combine high-tech hardware and software making them easy to create interactive projects and games. Students will be able to learn about logical thinking and the principles behind artificial intelligence (AI). Both robots can be programmed using a visual blocked-based programming language making it easy for students to create interesting programming sequences by just dragging and dropping blocks.

At the end of the course, kids will understand the fundamental concepts of programming while having fun and playing games with their robots.

CLASS SCHEDULE:
Session 1: Introduction to mBot/mBot Ranger and basic controls.
Students will learn the functions of mBot/mBot Ranger, software connectivity, and basic operations. Students will also be introduced to mBlock, the programming software used for controlling mBot/mBot Ranger.

Session 2: Introduction to Sequences
Students will learn the concept of sequences and how to perform sequence modeling by completing a guided practice followed by an independent practice.

Session 3: Sequences Part Two
Students will continue to explore programming sequences by completing a new guided practice followed by an independent game practice.

Session 4: Loops Part One
Students will learn the concept of Loops and how robots perform loops in real-world scenarios. We will complete a guided practice followed by an independent practice.

Session 5: Loops Part Two and Events
Students will continue to explore Loops and will be introduced to simple Events by completing a new guided practice followed by an independent game practice.
