Complete daily challenges to promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving in a STEM-based 8-day camp! Students will learn about the Engineering Design Process. They will be posed with a challenge at the beginning of class and we will work through the activity as they brainstorm and create to complete the challenge. We will discuss with one visual slide in the first 10 minutes and then begin problem-solving and creating for the rest of the class. We will take the last 5 minutes to share or present our designs. Students will not be required to present their designs, they will be encouraged. Each day we will complete one new activity that promotes curiosity, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. A goal of the class to create a space where students will share ideas. Day 1: Discuss the Engineering Design Process and begin the marshmallow tower challenge. Day 2: Design a Straw Maze Day 3: Design a Pom Pom Catapults Day 4: Design a Straw Bridge Day 5: Design a Parachute Day 6: Design a Raft Day 7: Design a Zip Line Day 8: Design a Table The list of supplies will be sent prior to class. No experience or prior knowledge is required. This is a fun club that will engage in fun activities in the two-week period. The supply list is only recommended supplies and other resources can be used in place of suggestions. Class is taught by a licensed teacher with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a STEAM emphasis.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the Engineering Design Process. Students will brainstorm, create, problem-solve, and analyze information to complete the daily challenges.

Supply List
A one-page handout will be provided with materials that can be found around the home. Suggested supplies include yarn/string, newspaper, tape, craft supplies, egg cartons, cardboard.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
