This will be an experimental class where students use their creativity and reasoning skills to put their problem solving skills into practice. Students will create an oil spill, observe the impact on objects in the impacted area, and then try various clean up efforts. The class will begin with a discussion, instructions, basic specifications, goals and objectives. Students through trial and error will allow their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. Slides and an accompanying activity worksheet will accompany the class for notes and skills reinforcement. This worksheet will be posted in the classroom prior to the start of the class.
Learning Goals
A great hands on activity to observe and try to correct impacts of an oil spill in waterways. Students will engage in discussion and record their observations and ideas for corrective measures. STEM projects help reinforce important life skills and help to potentially spark a lifetime interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I served the Director of Ancillary Services tasked with planning and executing summer and winter camps at a PK-12 school. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA, a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses and have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning Center.
