Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Welcome to our Montessori inspired virtual classroom where we learn life skills and age appropriate curriculum together while having fun. The Friendship Haven classroom is positive, welcoming and social. Lessons will always be hands-on and interactive.

Each class we will begin with a fun read aloud story. We will discuss the conflict faced by characters in our story. Students will then complete a STEM challenge related to our weekly story. We will work together to brain storm our ideas and draw blue prints. Learners will be invited, but not required, to share their ideas. STEM masterpieces will be completed before coming together to share and test our designs.

What is STEM?
STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through STEM, students develop key skills including problem solving and creativity.
Each week you will be asked to bring certain items for your project. For example tape, popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Many items we use you may already have in your home or will be cheaply purchased at a dollar store. Items will be shared the week before class so you have adequate time to prepare.

This class is all about creativity and having fun!

Each week we will follow a specific learning theme:

Week of September 11: Growth Mindset
Week of September 20: Perseverance
Week of September 27: Inventive Thinking
Week of October 4: Ideas Can Change The World
