STEAM Challenge: Marshmallow Tower
In this STEAM (similar to STEM but the A includes "Art") challenge, learners will create a tower from marshmallows and spaghetti! The tower will have some requirements, so students must problem solve to be successful.

Class Experience
Does your learner love food? How about building new things? Let your learner take part in today's STEAM Challenge, Marshmallow Tower! Students will use spaghetti and marshmallows to construct the tallest tower possible (Engineering). As scientists (Science), they will use knowledge about gravity and force. Learners will think like an artist as they work to build an aesthetically pleasing tower in addition to creating a story for the purpose of their tower(Art), in addition to measuring the...
Students will need: - Construction paper (for their story) - markers (for their story) - 30 full- sized pieces of raw spaghetti - 10 large marshmallows - "Person" (something that can represent a person such as a toy or a marble)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
