US Grade 3 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
In these lessons we will explore your voice to find its true sound and build healthy singing techniques. you can be a starting from scratch singer with a love of music, or a seasoned vocal veteran looking to expand your repertoire! This is a 100% interactive solo lesson with one on one coaching. In this once weekly lesson we will warm up together, and then sing songs we have picked while working on implementing our chosen singing goals. As a music educator, my teaching philosophy revolves around creating a nurturing and secure environment for the best learning experience. I focus on using positive reinforcement, opting for praise instead of criticism as a means of guiding musical development. In our classes, I foster an atmosphere where mistakes are not only accepted but also encouraged, recognizing them as integral to the journey of taking musical risks. For beginner students, we focus on things like: Introductory breathing, posture, and how singing works Gentle warmups to wake up the voice Introductory theory like naming notes and rhythms Building confidence in performing Singing songs you pick, or we pick together For intermediate students, we look at things like: Breathing from the back and diaphragm Introduction to ear training, like intervals and melodic repetition and rhythmic repetition Further exploration of theory like keys, types of minor scales, and looking at musical phrasing Mental images that help you further your technique Exploring vocal range Singing songs we pick together that align with your goals For advanced students, we dive into: An in depth look at posture, with methods like the Alexander Technique Complex warmups to wake up the very top and bottom of your range Range expansion Building audition confidence Forming healthy practice habits Singing in genres you pick with songs we pick together, or songs from a prescribed list like RCM
Learning Goals
