At the beginning of our class, we will talk about things that are silent; students should come to class with an idea of something silent and be able to give three clues to help their classmates guess the correct answer. We are going to learn about some "silent" letters in this class; students will learn to recognize these blends and the sounds they make in words. Students will receive some lecture instruction and will also have a lot of opportunity to interact with me and their classmates. We will practice activities reading, spelling, and identifying blends. We will play games and have fun learning together; I want students to have fun when they are learning. Students will benefit from a knowledge of vowel and consonant sounds.

Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
