SQ & Partners Math Academy - On Demand: Algebra 1 Course - Unit 1

At SQ & Partners: Math Academy (Algebra 1), learners will have the flexibility to learn an entire Algebra 1 curriculum while having access to feedback from Ms. SQ. This is the first unit of my full asynchronous Algebra 1 Course.

Lesson 1
Zero and Negative Exponents
Learners will apply the properties of zero and negative exponents to simplify algebraic expressions.
Lesson 2
Multiplication Properties
Learners will apply the multiplication properties of exponents to simplify algebraic expressions.
Lesson 3
Division Properties & Homework for Practice
Learners will apply the division properties of exponents to simplify algebraic expressions.
Lesson 4
Unit 1 Assessment
Learners will take assessment over Units 1 to gauge understanding of the content. Key provided for parents to assign grade for this unit. Students who earn less than an 80% are encouraged to message Ms. Eskew for more support.

20 years of teaching experience in USA of which 18 were focused on teaching Algebra 1. I also had one full year of virtual or online teaching. I am certified in grade 4-12 Mathematics and Minored in Mathematics at Drake University. I have an active teaching certificate at present. Additional endorsements include English as a Second Language on my teaching credentials. 
Homework Offered
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessment will be posted on each unit. When done, the parent can message me directly for a key to the exam to check their child's work and/or have a grade for the unit.
Grades Offered
A Unit Test appears at the end of this course that can be used to assign a grade to the unit.
ADHD- Built in pause breaks with the "I do, you do" format. Chunking of math content into smaller targeted math objectives. 
ELLs (English Language Learners)- Pre- teach vocabulary, visuals, relevant vocabulary taught explicitly
Math 7 & 8 Curriculum: Real Number operations: Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide fractions/ integers, Equations: Solve one and two step equations, Expressions: Order of Operations, Like Terms, Coordinate Graphing: Axes, Quadrants, Coordinates

While almost all content on course is created and presented by Ms. SQ, learners will be using an online calculator (learners will NOT need to create an account). Learners with gaps in prior knowledge, will be given the option to explore Virtual Nerd's math library to refresh prerequisite knowledge. Both are COPPA compliant and do not ask for emails or personal information in order to use.
