Average rating:4.8Number of reviews:(133)
In this 5-day camp, students will read "Hook's Daughter: The Untold Tale of a Pirate Princess", about a spunky heroine who goes on a swashbuckling adventure to the magical island of Neverland to find her father!

Class experience

My main goal is to help all of my students develop a love for reading!

Other goals for the book study course include:
•To think independently about the issues raised in the readings
•To verbally communicate any interpretations, questions, and information about the readings
•To become more comfortable as students share their thoughts about the book in a safe, positive environment
•To improve reading comprehension skills
•To learn the different elements of a story
•To have fun
Students will be expected to acquire the book (electronic or hardcopy). It is available on Kindle, on Amazon, on Barnes & Noble's website, or on Target's website. You should also be able to find the book in your local library (e-version and hardcopy).

Spring Break Book Club Book: "Hook's Daughter: The Untold Tale of a Pirate Princess"

I have created several handouts and activities to go along with this book club that will be sent via pdf (and also posted in the classroom). If you are unable to print these pdfs, students may also complete their activities in a blank spiral notebook. Pens/pencils and markers will be needed to complete activities.

We will also be playing an interactive game each day to review the content of the previous chapters read. Each day I will post a direct link to the game in the zoom chat. Students will need to be able to click the link provided, which will open up the game in an internet browser's tab. Students will need to feel comfortable navigating back and forth as needed between the game and zoom. Or students can access the game via a 2nd electronic device, like a tablet or phone. They will go to their internet app and type in the link to join in their internet browser's web address area. A parent/guardian might be needed to assist with this.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The novel is recommended for ages 9 to 12. I encourage parents/guardians to review the text if they are concerned about appropriateness for their child.
