Class Experience

In this Halloween inspired math class students will tackle the sometimes tricky story problems and solve them using addition and subtraction.  Students will learn strategies for solving story problems and leave the class feeling confident in finding key words to solve problems with ease! We will begin the class with simpler one step problems and then move on to two step problems.  Students will work together and share their thinking as we celebrate all the things that make Halloween fun!

Students will be having so much fun, they will be tricked into thinking that math is a treat!

Supply List

Students should have some sort of small beads, blocks, or erasers near by to aid with adding and subtracting.  Paper and pencil will also be needed.  

After class, a practice worksheet will be sent to each student for optional use.

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Since I was a young girl I wanted to be a teacher! I love teaching children about topics that excite me! I was a classroom teacher for 11 years teaching between 4th graders and middle schoolers! After becoming a mom I left the brick and mortar classroom to be home with my 2 growing boys, but missed being in the classroom.  I then began teaching English to foreign students online and have once again fell in love with teaching in a new and exciting way!  I am excited to bring this excitement to Outschool where I can teach about topics that excite me!  I'm not only a Outschool teacher, but a mom to 2 Outschool learners!
