Course Description: In each exciting class meeting, students will participate in a spooky read-aloud that highlights story elements such as characters, setting, plot, etc. We will also build comprehension by discussing the main idea and key details with slideshows and graphic organizers to accompany each lesson! 🥳 Course Objectives: - Identify story elements such as characters, setting, and plot. - Answer questions when prompted using evidence from the text. - Identify vocabulary terms that suggest feelings and appeal to the senses. - Compare and contrast characters and events in the story. - Practice sequencing of events. Topics Covered: - Story Elements - Text Evidence - Vocabulary - Sequencing - Comparing and Contrasting Teaching Style: - The teacher will read an age appropriate book for students to learn with. - The teacher will prompt students with questions and encourage each other to answer and provide each other feedback.

We will discuss a variety of story elements including characters, setting, point of view, plot, etc. A slideshow will be made and included in the lesson to compliment the specific story elements discussed, as well as provide a visual element for all learners.
The teacher will provide higher order thinking questions to encourage higher order thinking that will encourage students to inference, find textual evidence, and use context clues. Lesson 2:

We will discuss a variety of story elements including characters, setting, point of view, plot, etc. A slideshow will be made and included in the lesson to compliment the specific story elements discussed, as well as provide a visual element for all learners.

Parental Guidance
We will be reading R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps Slappyworld Fifth Grade Zombies" book. While this book is appropriate for ages 8+, there are some spooky elements such as monsters and zombies. I suggest searching the book online and reading the synopsis to help you make an informed decision on whether or not this book is appropriate for your child.
