Students receive a certificate for complete of Public Speaking and Debate camp. General Description: By the end of camp, students will have learned techniques for effective public speaking and storytelling, and will receive a certificate of completion. My goal is to create a supportive and warm environment for students who may be shy, ESL, or learning to build confidence. I help build strong speakers by allowing students to speak about beloved topics, move at their own pace, and feel acknowledged and rewarded. My teaching approach is based in SECD and SEL learning. In this course, healthy competitiveness is built through fun speech contests and students are given equal time to share and speak. Students practice speaking clearly and confidently, using physical and vocal gestures that capture their audience. While full self-expression is supported, students will practice proper focus/staying on topic, time limits and deciphering between what should be shared and what can be left out. Strong speakers are built through practice and encouragement!
Learning Goals
