This Spanish conversation class is a chance for students at an early intermediate level to practice speaking with others completely in Spanish. *This class will be easiest if you have taken a beginning ongoing class with me, or if you already feel comfortable in a Spanish immersion environment.* We will meet 3 times a week. Each meeting will have one or more of the following: -Learn the vocabulary needed for the week. This will be only in Spanish and the students will have to use the pictures and context in order to understand what the questions, answers, and vocabulary mean. There will also be a handout provided after the first class to support their learning. -Practice using the vocabulary in sentences by asking and answering questions with teacher support -Show and tell OR games/activities: show off skills learned by conversing with other students and/or teacher with minimal teacher support. Students may also bring an appropriate item/drawing that corresponds with what we're learning that week. They may also participate in activities to gain even more practice and understanding. -Mini grammar lesson -There will also be opportunities to read and write in Spanish During each class, students will practice asking and answering questions with the other students completely in Spanish. The student does not, however need to know everything in order to take this class. We will focus on a new topic each week, so that those who join at a later time do not need to have been in the class the week before in order to participate. The following are the topics for the spring (subject to change based on needs of the students). Week of: March 13: Los Saludos y Las Introducciones (Greetings and Introductions) March 20: Mi horario (My Schedule) March 27: ¿Qué hiciste ayer? (What did you do yesterday? - Past tense) April 3: ¿A dónde vas? (Where are you going? - Travel and Direction) April 10: ¿Qué haré cuando crezca? (What will I do when I grow up? - Future tense) April 17: ¿Quién soy? (Who am I? - Describing myself and others) April 24: ¿Cómo está usted? (How are you? - Feelings, Emotions, and Different forms of YOU)
