Soccer Rules Explained
'Football' Rules Explained by a British qualified soccer coach. Different sports have their own rules, whether it be baseball, football, basketball or golf, but what about the world's biggest sport, soccer? In this one time class, students will develop social skills to build confidence and also apply critical thinking to determine if a player is offside or not?

Love soccer but never understood what the guys with the funny accents on the TV were talking about? Well, come join me, an English Football Association qualified coach and I'll help you navigate through all that confusing rules and terminology. From the offside rule to discussing strategies of the game, during my discussion-based class, students will learn all things 'football'. Students will get the chance to rate and share their opinions of players and teams, analyze matches (who won, why?, how? etc.) and discuss the latest news and events from the English Premier League. They will also learn how to respect others' opinions, how to politely express themselves and build confidence along the way in a fun, yet structured social learning environment. Class breakdown: • Introductions - I'll introduce and tell a soccer fact about myself and then encourage students to do the same. • Let's talk soccer - A relaxed discussion about the current events in the world of soccer. • Question time - What is the offside rule? • Which team are you on? - Students will discuss two teams with different strategies, formations and attributes. •Goodbye my friends - A brief summary of the class and students will get the chance to ask any questions they might have. Students will have plenty of opportunities to share their input and listen to others.
Learning Goals
1. The full and detailed explanation of the offside rule
2. To be able to identify formations, strategies and characteristics of two teams and choose their favourite.
3. Social skills - Students will learn how to respect other people's opinions and to respectfully express their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Ross Hanson and I am a TEFL certified teacher, as well as a Football Association of Wales qualified coach. My goal in my lessons is to provide a fun and relaxed environment, where students can learn about what they enjoy while gaining important social skills along the way.
I hope to prompt students to think creatively and explore their natural curiosity. I want them to feel that no question is too silly to ask.
In my class, students will learn and understand terminology, tactics and how to analyze a match, while at the same time discussing all things soccer.
I also have over two years of experience teaching English as a foreign language and have found that students learn best when discussing something that they love.
Adding to the aforementioned two years of teaching, I have also coached youth soccer for three years, two years in the USA and one year in the UK.
I have a National Diploma in Sport, a Football Association of Wales C Certificate and a 120-hour TEFL Certificate.
I love sports and if I'm not watching or playing soccer, then you'll find me on a board either on snow or water depending on the season :)
My second love is to travel and I have been to thirty countries so far and counting...
I really enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories, so feel free to ask me anything.
I look forward to seeing your child in my classroom soon :)
Bye for now, Ross
