Level up your language learning with reading! 📚 Students ages 6-10 will have a blast learning beginner Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure by reading leveled books with high frequency words.

Since Spanish is a syllabic language, the teaching of phonological awareness centers on vowel sounds and the formation of syllables to decode. For this reason, we will start each class with vowel and syllable review through the use of songs and activities. Next, students will be introduced to 5 or 6 selected high frequency words through interactive slides. Finally, learners will apply their knowledge by reading an on screen leveled book together. Each student will be able to repeat vocabulary covered to ensure proper pronunciation and understanding. Vocabulary lists and extra resources will be posted in the classroom and available to print at the start of each week.

This is an ongoing class, meeting one time per week. Each class will feature a new leveled reader in Spanish and can be a stand alone class. Learners may come and go as their schedule allows, as long as there are available spaces upon enrollment. Classes will cycle every 10 weeks, so feel free to join at any point!
