Class Experience

This Summer Camp class will allow the learner to communicate with simple sentences in Spanish like "Mi nombre es", "¿Que hora es?", "¿Cómo está el tiempo?" and much much more. At the beginning of each session, the learners will have the opportunity to practice and repeat the alphabet and numbers as a reinforcement of knowledge. The learners will be in constant communication with other learners to make the experience more interactive. We will be using many slides to show the right grammar and visualize the vocabulary. We will be playing different games such as "Memoria", "Sopa de Letras", "Unir", and many more. I believe the learning experience has to be fun! By making the class more animated, learners will enjoy it more and retain knowledge better. This is a friendly and safe classroom environment where learners can share their own experiences with others and have a good time.

The weekly topics are listed below, though our discussions will not be limited to these topics alone. We will cover basic skills, such as greetings, feelings/moods, correct grammar/pronunciation, and so on.

06/07: Greetings, Alphabet, Numbers 1-20.
06/14: Colors, body parts, Numbers 21-50.
06/21: What time it is? Numbers 50-100
06/28: Days of the week, Month of the year.

My name is Neil and I have a passion for learning and sharing what I know. I love teaching children in a fun and practical way. Spanish is my native language and I have enjoyed teaching others how to speak it. I myself learned English as an adult and can relate to the struggles that students experience when learning a new language. My goal is for students to learn in a fun and safe environment, free from judgment.

I am originally from Venezuela and have lived in the US for more than 20 years. My wife and I homeschool our three children, ages 19 (just finished college), 14, and 13. We have been homeschooling for the past 17 years. I've always been very active in our homeschool community co-ops, teaching cooking classes, science labs, geography and history (with a focus on Venezuela and other Latin American countries), and coaching soccer/bowling teams.

I am a fun-loving teacher who excels at building rapport with students. I am a very patient educator who believes everyone is capable of learning a second or third language. With encouragement and positive reinforcement, I believe any student can succeed!

My family and I love music, though I am not very good at playing instruments or singing. However, my family always gets a kick out of me pretending to sing opera. Figarooooo! I love making people laugh and I look forward to making learning fun for your students. See you in the classroom!
