Spanish for Beginners, Learn the Basics Part 5: My Pets & Games “I Have “ & “I Want”

In this class, students ages 9-12 with A1 level, will learn vocabulary related to pets and toys, the definite and indefinite articles and how to conjugate the verbs "Have" and "Want", students will practice conversation and review the vocabulary with interactive activities and games like Blooket. #ACADEMIC

Homework
1 hour per week. Each session has an exercise to be completed to practice the written part, students can upload a picture of his completed homework to have feed back from the teacher. There will also be a PDF with vocabulary and audio with the pronunciation.

Class Experience

****This class is for students that know the basics and want to continue learning. If your students does not know any Spanish you can check out my class for Beginners:  "Spanish for Beginners: Learn The Basics, Introduction" ****

CEFR A1 Level: ⊛ Student can understand and use everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
⊛ Student can introduce him/herself and can ask and answer questions such as where he/she is, people they know and things they have.
⊛ Student can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

✨By the end of this class students will be able to:
⭐️ Identify vocabulary related to :
     • Pets
     • Food
     • Toys (video games)
⭐️ Make sentences using:
      • Definite Pronouns
      • Indefinite Pronouns
⭐️ Conjugate the Verb : Have
⭐️ Conjugate the verb : Want
⭐️ Say affirmative and negative sentences using "Have"
⭐️ Say affirmative and negative sentences using " Want"


In this Multi- day class, students will learn the basics of the Spanish language with interactive activities and games that will give the students the confidence to keep a short simple conversation. We will practice the pronunciation as a group and then I will ask each student to repeat the words giving each student individual attention and meeting their level. It will be a bilingual class English/Spanish, with lots of Spanish emphasis.

Each week there will be a review of the previous vocabulary and an introduction of new vocabulary and a grammar structure.
the activities and games will also cover previous classes to keep practicing.
After each class, students will get a PDF with the vocabulary, audio with the pronunciation and an exercise to practice the written part. Students can complete the exercises and upload a picture either in the classroom (public for every classmate to see ) or using their private messaging system (preferred) and I will give feedback. 
There will be an audio with all the pronunciation for students to practice after class. If a student can not attend a class, the audio and the PDF with vocabulary will provide all the tools to practice the concepts and the pronunciation taught during each class. 
*****CLASS RECORDING POLICY : I do not share recordings of my group classes in order to protect the privacy of all learners 
(many parents do not feel comfortable with other families having access to videos that include their child). However, you are welcome to watch and help your child, OFF SCREEN, to comply with Outschool Policy, so that you can also have access to the content.

Since it is a Beginners class, students will be encourage to practice the pronunciation and create sentences using the vocabulary they know, that will help them gain confidence as they will begin to think and speak in Spanish rather than translating.
The routine of the class will be as follow:
1. Greetings
2. Review of vocabulary
3. Introduction of new vocabulary and repetition
4. Introduction of the grammar structure
5. Students practice
6. Game/ Activity

• Definite articles : El/La Las/Los
• How to conjugate the verb "Have" in the singular form
    I / You / He / She
💫Students will review Clothing
💫Students will review colors
💫students will review numbers
💫students will review vocabulary with interactive activities or games from Blooket
📍Learning Objective: Students will be able to explore their closet and tell their classmates what they have describing quantity and colors.


⭐️Week Two:
✨Students will review : 
• Definite articles.
• Using "Have" with I/ You/ He/She
💫Students will learn:
 • How to conjugate the verb "Have" in the plural form
    We/You/They
• Vocabulary related to food
📍Learning Objective: Students will be able to check their pantries and create a grocery list 
to help them practice the plural form of the verb "Have"


⭐️ Week Three:
💫 Students will learn: 
• Definite articles
   Un/ Una  Unos/Unas
• vocabulary related to pets
• How to conjugate the verb " Want" in the simple from:
   I / You / He / She
✨ Students will review using interactive activities and games from Blooket:
📍Learning Objective: Students will be able to tell their classmates which pet they want .

💫 Students will Learn : 
• How to conjugate the verb "Want" in the plural form:
• We, You (plural), They
✨ Students will practice: 
• Vocabulary related to pets
• Vocabulary related to food
💫 Students will review using interactive activities or games from Blooket:
• New vocabulary
• Sentences with the pronouns We, You, They
📍Learning Objective: Students will be able to tell their classmates which pet their friend wants .

⭐️ Week Five:
💫  Students will Learn: 
• Vocabulary related to toys.
• Sentences using the verb "Have" in the negative form
• Sentences using the verb "Want" in the negative form
✨ Students will review with interactive activities and games from Blooket:
• New vocabulary
• correct definite article/ indefinite article
📍Learning Objective: Students will be able tell their classmates what they don't have and 
what they don't want.

⭐️ Week Six:
💫Students will review:
• Definite and Indefinite Pronouns
• How to conjugate the verb: "Have" 
• How to conjugate the verb: "Want"
• Affirmative and negative sentences
📍Learning Objective:
Students will review all the concepts and practice what they have learned with
conversation, interactive activities and games.


There will be games and activities to complement each lesson, with lots of repetition.

**During the last 5 to 10 minutes of class, students will review the vocabulary using interactive activities and games from:
"Blooket" . Students Do Not need to create any accounts. Students need Parental Permission to access Blooket.com/play/ Game.educaplay.com and use a Game ID that I will provide, or to use the link that I will put in the chat. Only the students that are present in class that day will be allowed to play. 
***All material will be presented via Canva and screen shared by the teacher. The PDFs will also be screen shared by the teacher so they can be completed as an oral and written exercise.

During my College years, I worked for a language company in Colombia (CIL),  I was trained by the owner in a conversational teaching method to teach ESL and Spanish to foreigners. It was a great opportunity to learn hands on how to teach others to communicate in other languages, how to teach children both in English and Spanish and how to be a bridge of knowledge in every subject that I was Certified in. It was such a wonderful experience that I kept working for them for more than 8 years giving me vast training in handling English and Spanish classes, I now use that experience and the fact that I am a native Spanish speaker to share what I know with children and to help them cope with anxiety and stress through mindfulness.
Even though my mayor is in International Business, my passion is working with children and learning along the with them.
