I lived in Spain as a child, and there is where I had my first schooling experience. I kept up my skills throughout the early years by taking Spanish classes in middle school through college. As an adult, I was able to maintain my Spanish by being active in my Spanish speaking church, and as a Spanish teacher to children from PreK to high school.
