Intermediate Level
This conversation club, is for students who have an intermediate level of Spanish and would like to become more fluent. Each session will be taught in Spanish; however, English will be briefly spoken if necessary, in order to make sure everyone understands the instructions. Each week, we will focus on a grammar area that will be applied when the students are expressing their ideas; they will also be talking about a specific topic and apply new and relevant vocabulary. For example, if the topic of the week is about a place where they went for vacations, they will need to use the past tense to describe the activities they did during their trip. Some of the themes the teens will be discussing are movies, books, places around the world, current events, different culture mainly from Spanish speaking countries. Below, you can find the list of topics by week: - Week 1: Let's talk about your hobbies and favorite sports. - Week 2: What are your favorite books? - Week 3: Travel: Describe your favorite vacations and discuss nice destinations in Spanish speaking countries. - Week 4: Food - Tasting traditions - Week 5: Different Spanish speaking cultures - Week 6: Let's discuss movies and series At the beginning of each session, students will practice conversation, by talking about their week and plans; afterwards, the topic for discussion of the week will be introduced with a briefly grammar review. After learning about the topic, by reading a text or watching a video, the students will express their ideas and opinions using new vocabulary that will be shown on a slide by screen sharing. Each student will have the opportunity to actively participate throughout the session, as the class is centered in conversation.
