Play Overwatch 2 and practice Spanish conversation in this weekly class.

Class experience

This class is taught in Spanish.
-Develop confidence while speaking Spanish
-Apply their Spanish skills to communicate effectively with other players by describing what is happening in the game
-Develop their integrity as videogamers
-Improve interpersonal skills
I have a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Linguistics and I speak Spanish daily. I love to play videogames and combining the two is a passion of mine. I make sure my classes are inclusive and avoid using ableist, sexist, racist, and LGBTQIA+phobic language.
Students must already have a copy of Overwatch 2 and have a Battle.net account made. (When you install Overwatch for the first time and boot it up, the game will walk you through this process. Without completing the in-game steps, your learner will not be able to play.)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Shooting/Violence: Overwatch 2 is a first-person shooting game. There may be some blood when a character is hit but it does not stain the ground and there is no gore.

In-game character death: Student's in-game characters will die when killed by other players. Some learners might find this very upsetting.

Internet Safety: Overwatch 2 is a game in which people can send you friend requests during or after matches. I require students to not accept or send friend requests to other classmates or random people we play against on the Internet. If a learner would like to friend request a student in class, the parents of both learners can message each other and agree to it. I cannot monitor student interactions outside of the Outschool classroom.

Chat Safety: Students must deactivate their in-game voice chat and text chat while we play against other teams online. Sometimes there are random players who may say or write unkind things using the in-game voice or chat.

Battle.net account- Overwatch 2 requires players to create a Battle.net account in order to play

Profile
I am a fossil and language lover. I love talking about natural history just as much as I love to talk about languages. I believe we can learn a lot about our natural environment from fossils, just as much as we can learn about culture and history...
