This course is designed for the beginner who enjoys reading and wants to try using their beginner Spanish knowledge to read a chapter book in Spanish. This is a great way to enhance current Spanish proficiency or for maintenance purposes. The book is designed for early language learners who have already had at least a semester of Spanish. The class meets for 40 minutes once a week for 10 weeks. This class would be a great addition to a semester Spanish course or conversation class to reinforce and enrich the Spanish a student has learned or is learning in a semester Spanish course. This is a perfect book for beginning language learners for elementary, middle school, and high school classes. Students will learn more about South American animals, the water cycle, and deforestation as Carlos finds his way through a story with science and social studies cross-curricular content with only 55 new words in Spanish. 📘 El capibara con botas 📘 Normal capybaras swim well. Carlos is the only capybara in the Amazon Rainforest who can’t swim. Things don’t look good for Carlos away from the water. I have been teaching Spanish for 11 years to ages 10 - 18. I am a certified teacher in the state of Pennsylvanie with a B.A. in Spanish Education K-12 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I have written and implemented engaging curriculum for schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
I believe learning a language should be a fun and positive experience. Learning a language can unlock more health, social and academic benefits that life has to offer. I strive to create an environment that motivates students to see their potential while learning Spanish. I incorporate listening, reading, writing and speaking opportunities into each lesson so students gain confidence using Spanish in a variety of ways.
