Beginner Level
Skillabration creates a unique Spanish immersion experience for for beginners, but we recommend having some experience with Spanish such as knowing the alphabet by heart, and some basic vocabulary such as numbers, weather, greetings and introductions, and Spanish phonics. Class Structure - Teachers will share the screen on Zoom and students will see our presentations on Google Slides/Docs. - Class starts with a 5 minute warm-up - Guided Lesson (short story, song, or video) - Group and Individual Practice (Comprehension questions, activities, games) We will use about 50/50 Spanish/English. How does immersion work? - Seeing and hearing the vocabulary repeatedly and learning new words in the context of stories, songs and videos. - Helping students recognize cognates (words that look similar in two different languages such as elephant and elefante). - We use authentic songs and videos so students gain a strong understanding of the Hispanic culture. What is our teaching style? Teachers work as a guide so learners interact throughout the lesson. Learners will take part in reading and answering questions throughout the lesson. Some of our games and activities include sequencing stories, word puzzles, immersive comprehension questions asked in Spanish using supportive structures to set students up for success, interesting T/F questions, Jeopardy, and more. Learn more about our teachers below in the "Teacher Expertise" section. Learn more about the materials we use in the "Sources" section.

Parental Guidance
Sometimes we use Nearpod during the lesson. This website provides interactive practice for the student where they can drag and drop, type answers or do matching activities. We will provide the link to students during class in the Zoom chat box.
We use Google Slides and Docs. It is helpful if students have their own Gmail account and can be logged in on a laptop, computer or chromebook so they can work on the materials on their own screen. We have work arounds if students don't have a gmail account, but it does make for a better class experience if each learner can create their own copy of our materials during the live lesson.
Supply List
If you could create a student Gmail account, or if your child has access to use a parent/guardian account, that will make for a better class experience. Please, be on a desktop or laptop computer rather than an iPad or Phone to ensure the best experience. We have workarounds if you're unable to create a Gmail account for your learner.
