In this fun and hands-on class, we learn about a different aspect of space each week, by incorporating writing, art, and games into our curriculum. We'll learn about each of the planets in our solar system, moons, different types of stars, black holes, white holes, galaxies, nebulae, space travel, the International Space Station, astronaut training, careers related to space travel, and many other topics. A proposed list of topics, and the schedule, is below, but it may change depending on students' interest and what they are excited to learn about in particular. Other Details
Parental Guidance
We will often use third party online tools, such as National Geographic, PBS, YouTube, and Mr. Nussbaum's Games; however, none of them require accounts for students, or collect any personal information.
Supply List
Materials for each class will be posted in the classroom. Students should print those off and bring them, and a pencil and notebook paper, to each session. When we have a project, I'll send a list of necessary supplies in advance. These will mostly be common household items.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Teaching Certificates
Missouri Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Missouri Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Please note that this is NOT an advanced class. It is for young learners who are interested in space. I have a keen interest in all things space-related, have visited NASA, and taught about space and STEAM classes for over a year, cumulatively.
