During the camp students will learn about the fascinating planet Jupiter. We will learn about its unique orbital roles in the Solar System, while diving into the planetary science behind our understanding of it. Learners will explore how the planet formed, how its migration through the Solar System shaped the development of the other planets, its internal structure, magnetic field and rings. We will look at its moons, paying special attention to its four major moons, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Each class the instructor will share potential art projects learners can do on their own between classes relating to Jupiter. Students can choose to make one of the sample art projects or create their own entirely new Jupiter or jovian system related creation. This is a highly interactive course. Students will learn through an image and video filled presentation and discussion. Students’ participation and questions are regularly encouraged. This course is perfect for the young space enthusiast who wants to deepen and expand their knowledge of space and the gas planets. However, no previous knowledge in the subject is required. Classes are designed to encourage student engagement and follow their curiosity. Sessions one through three will be lecture and discussion based. In session four students will get to share their own jovian art projects with the group. Class One: Welcome to Jupiter Class Two: Storms and System Class Three: The Galilean Moons Class Four: Projects
