Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
Children will learn about outer space and have an opportunity to share some fun facts they know. Classes will be taught with discussion over Zoom and with slides containing information, graphics, and activities. 

Class Schedule:
Welcome: 2-5 minutes
Discussion 12-16 minutes
Activity 15-17
Crafts 20-24 minutes
Closing 2-4 minutes

Day One: Introduction to our Solar System, history and formation
Day Two: The Planets, Moons, Meteor Showers, Meteorites
Day Three: Lunar Eclipse, Solar Eclipse, Comets, Asteroid Belt, Kuiper Belt
Day Four: Beyond the Milky Way , Space Visits, Important Dates and Fun Facts
Learning Goals
Children will learn about outer space, share knowledge speaking with peers, listening skills, fine motor skills cutting, using playdough, solving puzzles, and following directions to complete crafts.

Parental Guidance
Children will be using scissors.
Supply List
Crayons/Markers
Glue
3 plain white paper plates - no Styrofoam please
Playdough - light gray any brand or homemade about 2 cups
2 tongue depressors or popsicle sticks
2 pieces of light colored construction paper
Squeeze paints - 3 colors (paints able to be squeeze/dropped onto paper)
Bin/tray able to lay a piece of construction paper in flat
About 1/8 cup water to use with paint on day one
Marbles
5 toothpicks
Scotch Tape (may be easier to use on some projects than glue - ex: toothpicks/popsicle sticks or tongue depressors)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
