Class Experience

Hi guys!

I am so excited to share my culture's food with you. In this class we will be making South African "Koeksusters"- translated meaning Knotted Sisters. We'll also be looking into the history of "koeksusters" and why it's made in South Africa. The structure of the class will start out with an introduction about what "koeksusters" are and where it comes from. We will move on from there to the preparation phase of the class. Then we will start our cooking, a step-by-step process, which we will engage in together. We will do everything together and questions can be asked at any time.

Safety information:
- This class will require the use of a stovetop. The "Koeksusters" will have to deep fry in hot oil on the stove.
- Equipment needed: bowls, sift, measuring cups and spoons, electric mixer, a pot, a knife (does not have to be a sharp knife), and tongs..
- Ingredients: Flour, baking powder, salt, butter, milk, water, lemon juice, canola oil, vanilla essence, and sugar.

Join me and learn valuable cooking skills, as well as getting the chance to eat delicious new foods.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi guys!

Welcome to my platform for teaching! Here, having fun while learning is my main concern. I will be teaching a variety of classes, namely: Grammar and Reading for ages 5 - 8, Cooking Classes for South African Dishes ages 12 - 18, Little Detective classes - solving crimes using Criminal law - ages 13 - 15, and Legal Courses in: Criminal Law, Contract Law, Intellectual Property, and African Law, to name a few, for ages 16 - 18.

I am a TEFL Certified teacher that specialized in teaching English to foreign speaking students. I use those skills to teach grammar and reading for native English speakers to develop a deeper understanding of English and the rules connected to the language. I'm originally from South Africa and want to share my culture's food with the rest of the word. I will give cooking classes in making South African dishes, such as: South African pancakes, koeksusters (knotted sisters), vetkoek (fatcakes), melktert (milktart), and so much more. Furthermore, I am a Master in Law student who has a law degree. I will use my legal background to teach classes on law subjects, such as those listed above.

As previously stated, I believe having fun is the most important thing, since you remember this much better when enjoying what you are learning. I have a passion for all these classes and I truly look forward to teaching you in any of these subject. Let's learn to read, cook, or/and solve crimes together!

Fun fact about me: I grew up in South Africa and have travelled all over South Africa and the USA. I call America home now, but will always have a love for my home country.
