Songwriting is its own unique art form. Students will learn song structure and various techniques to create their own songs. We will begin with a warm-up and/or a writing exercise. Then, we will learn a specific technique each week to create part of a song related to that technique. At the end of class, we will present our work, and if time allows, add instrumental and melody. Students will be given feedback on their work throughout the class. Students are encouraged to polish their song throughout the week and submit it in the classroom for additional feedback. There are no prerequisites for this course. Daily Class Structure: Warm-up Lecture Songwriting Practice Together Songwriting by ourselves Presentation and Feedback Topics Covered: Day1: Rhymes Day 2: Creating a Chorus Day 3: Writing the Verse Day 4: Building the Bridge Day 5: Automatic Writing
