US Grade 2 - 4
If your student could use some practice with double digit addition while doing so in a fun way, you've found the right class! In this class, we will be playing an addition game to earn points! We will start class with introductions followed by a question of the day. We will then review some strategies to use when adding as well as the concept of regrouping. To play our game, students will be shown a screen with boxes numbered 1 - 21. Each box corresponds with a double digit addition equation to solve. Students will take turns choosing a box and I will display the equation for that box. The students will attempt to solve the equation on their own using strategies. The student that chose the box will be the first to share what they got as their answer, and other students will be able to agree or disagree with the solution. I will then solve the equation on screen so students can check their work and see the correct answer. Getting problems correct earns points. As an added bonus, there will be 3 winter items hiding behind 3 of the boxes. These boxes are worth 3 extra points for finding the item. I will be able to scaffold and provide support as students work through the addition problems. Students will have an opportunity to work independently but also collaboratively. All of the addition problems in this game will be double digit addends. I do also offer a level 1 version of this class that is single digit addition. If your child isn't ready for double digit with regrouping, please try out my level 1 version! I look forward to adding with your learner soon!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am excited to be teaching here on Outschool! I am looking forward to teaching early childhood development classes - preschool math, literacy, social skills and more! I have worked with children/students of all ages. My primary focus is with young children as I have a bachelors degree in elementary education (prek - 4th) which I obtained through Grand Canyon University. I have spent the last 10 years working in an early childhood development center, primarily working with children ages 2-4. During these last 10 years I have developed and implemented curriculum across many content areas. Aside from teaching, I am a color guard instructor at both the middle and high school levels.
I think learning is all about having fun, especially with the younger children! My experience of running an early childhood classroom will aide me in providing fun and engaging lessons here on Outschool as well!
When I am not coaching or teaching, I am busy being a wife and a mom! My husband and I have a seven year old son who is currently in second grade and an infant daughter. My older son is very involved in sports, which means I am too! I also enjoy reading, journaling, and watching tv.
I look forward to meeting and working with many young children on this journey!
