This class is taught in English.
  • Learners will be able to identify and describe significant events, people, and movements in United States history.
  • Learners will understand the impact of major events such as the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the World Wars on the development of the nation.
  • Learners will learn to analyze and interpret primary and secondary sources, including historical documents, artifacts, and visual media.
  • Learners will develop the ability to evaluate different perspectives and understand the context and significance of historical events.
  • Learners will gain insight into the founding principles of the United States government, including the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
  • Learners will explore the development of American democracy and the ongoing struggles for equality and civil rights.
I have over twenty years experience working with and teaching students.  I have a bachelor's degree in both History and Economics, which included studies in the Middle Ages, History of Latin America, History of Africa, History of South Asia, History of Native Peoples of North America, and many other topics.  My master's degree is in Higher Education.  I also have a Juris Doctorate degree in Law.  Most importantly, I have a passion for teaching, history in particular!

Resources from the Library of Congress Native American Collection and the National Museum of the American Indian will be used during our unit on the First Civilizations as well as throughout the course.
