Welcome to Book Club With Ms. B: Magic Tree House Book 3, Mummies in the Morning.
Readers are taken on a new adventure to Ancient Egypt. Anne and Jack, the main characters, meet an Ancient Queen and help her to solve a puzzle before its to late and they can not return home. This series is great for readers because it builds imagination and readers excited for new adventures. 

This book club is structured for readers to jump right in if they have not read books one and two. This class does require the book. Readers can read as an E-Reader, check out from the library or purchase and add to their book collection. 

The book club is strucuted each week for students to interact with peers and teacher. Students will be introduced the following activities each week that will build understanding of Egypt. This book club will meet for two weeks, three times each week for 30 minutes each class. 

Week 1: ***Students will have the option as a group each class time if they would like to read the chapters in class as a group. 
Monday Class 1
 Prior to class, it is ideal to read chapters 1 & 2 before starting class. In class students will have a one page handout for an optional printout. During class students will discuss characters and setting. We will discuss background vocabulary such as pottery, sphinx, mummy, pharaoh, queen, Egypt, desert, sarcophagus and canoe.

Wednesday Class 2 
Prior to class students are encouraged to read Chapter 3 & 4. During class students will work together and teacher to compare and contrast Ancient Egypt and Today. How does Anne and Jack feel about where they are landing?

Friday Class 3 
Prior to class meeting read Chapter 5 & 6. Students will have an optional Ancient Egypt mini book printable to color and discuss facts about Egypt. We will discuss if our class predictions were correct from class #2. What will Anne and Jack do?

Week 2
Monday Class 4
Prior to class meeting read Chapter 7 & 8. Students will interact with teacher and peers and have a discussion about Ancient Egypt and deserts. We will work on a connection activity hand out that is optional and will be available prior to class starting.
 
Wednesday Class 5
Prior to class students will have read Chapter 9 before our class time.  Will Anne and Jack make it back home? Or will they stay in Ancient Egypt? Students will cut and glue together with a glue stick a Pharaoh Mask. A one page hand out will be needed for this connection activity. 

Friday Class 6
(Our last class meeting) 
Class Prior to class students are encourage to have read the last chapter. Students will have the option to print our last connection activity, stick puppets of Black Cat and Quenn Hutepi. We will discuss the important details about Queen Hutepi.

Hi! My name is Brienna. Students can call me Ms. B.
When the pandemic started, I knew right away that homeschooling was the journey our family would be taking. I have been homeschooling along with teaching. I began teaching when I was 18! I fell in love with teaching and showing students that they were Rockstars! (Reading Rockstar, Math Rockstar, Social Studies Rock Star). It was very important to me that learners felt that they were awesome and could rock any subject that was taught. 

I have two amazing kids!! A Jr. in high school and a middle school learner. Our favorite things to do as a family is to travel and collect board games. 

I am a huge advocate for special needs students. My son’s journey with Autism and ADHD taught me so much from learning about different therapies to IEP goals. I create classes so that all children with different abilities can participate and feel valued.

With my ten years’ experience, as a preschool teacher my passion is teaching children through engaging activities, while having fun. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a private tutor for Kindergarten through 6th grade. 

Currently I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a certified Curriculum Specialist. With different classroom setting experiences I had the opportunity to focus on phonics, reading, sensory activities, science experience and history. Getting children excited about learning is what drives me every day.
