Class Experience

These two classes are intended for beginner learners of chess or students who want a refresher on the basics of chess. If you are new to chess, never played before, or have only played a few times, this class is a great starting place for you! The objective of these classes are to teach students the rules of chess, introduce the different chess pieces, and begin to learn how to play.

Class 1: During our time together, students will learn the rules of chess and the different chess pieces. They will participate in a Kahoot near the end of the class to review the knowledge that they have learned.

Class 2: Students will be introduced to some beginner skills of how to play the game by examining various chess games to learn the basic moves and tactics of game play. This will be an interactive class using Pear Deck which allows students to submit answers and questions during the lesson.

*** Please note students will need a secondary device in both classes to participate in the interactive Kahoot game and Pear Deck during class time.

Learning Goals

Students will learn the rules, chess pieces, and beginning skills needed to play the game of chess.
