Class Experience

In this instructional course, learn to enhance your channel to make it professional by creating YouTube channel art, profile icon, and even custom thumbnails.

If you already have a channel OR if you are already an avid video maker, you do not need to take the one time YT courses in order. Learners new to making videos should space out their enrolment and learning in the courses and start with Course One.

-Meet other emerging Youtubers
-Using free online tools, learners will learn how to use templates or their own ideas to create their unique channel art, profile icon and custom thumbnails.

Learners will learn skills that last a lifetime!

In order to facilitate discussion and engagement of learners, just a reminder that learners need to have a camera & audio to participate in this course.

The course runs for 45 minutes. It's important that learners know how to mute and unmute themselves to eliminate background noise. I will show how to do this at the beginning of the course. If the class is full, watch for 2 spots to open an hour before the class starts.

This is a live class.

LEARNERS DO NOT NEED TO TAKE THE YOUTUBE COURSES IN ORDER.

Some FAQ's:
->Please review Outschool's refund policy: If you miss a class, you are not entitled to a refund. Do not ask for a transfer. A recording is provided for review.
->Outschool does not allow multiple learners in the same login or device, unless each learner pays the course fee separately.
->Other Outschool Instructors and family members have taken my class to learn about Youtube and to create their own courses around Youtube on Outschool. If you want to learn about YT, choose a course from an Instructor who actively works with children, participates in YT professional development and attends annual YT conventions, uses YT with learners of all abilities as a teaching tool and is also a YT creator using YT to facilitate learning in social science university courses on the LMS platform.
->If there are less than 5 registered learners 23 hours before class begins, I may have to cancel the session. I will notify you via Outschool messaging. What I have learned is for participation, it's best to have 6-10 learners to maximize participation and sharing.
->If your child has a YT channel with awesome channel art, a profile icon, knows about monetization and has a large number of subscribers, this is not the course for them.
-> I am not currently taking on additional 1:1 learners or scheduling private classes.
->If a class looks scheduled at a weird time, 4am for example, likely it’s been scheduled by request by overseas families. No need to message me about a scheduling error. ;)
->How is the price for this course set? Outschool charges a 30% fee off the cost of the course, income tax charges 34%. Thus, I receive about $4.50 for every learner registered and spend over $10000/year on professional development.
->Do you need a homeschool evaluation completed for your learner for State or Provincial requirements? With a masters in homelearning and an experienced part-time Homeschool Learning Consultant, please do not hesitate to send me a message.

Parental Guidance
According to YouTube, children under the age of 13 should be supervised by an adult. Because of Youtube privacy and age requirements, I am able to provide you with instructions to create the channel, however, I am not able to open a channel for learners. No adult other than a parent is lawfully able to open a YouTube account for any minor under the age of majority (18, 19, 21) where you live. No one on Outschool is authorized by YouTube to open accounts for children. It takes 5 minutes to open a channel. You do not need to register for any Outschool course if you would just like the instructions. Please email me and I will be happy to provide them so you can get your child Youtubing!
Supply List

*The original OUTSCHOOL YOUTUBE TEACHER,* I've been teaching on Outschool over 6 years.

With over 30 years of communications and education experience, I started a professional communications consulting company in 2014 to help businesses make content for their digital marketing strategies for business YouTube channels. As an educational content maker for a university and multi-media University Prof, I have taken live workshops facilitated by MattPat (Game Theorist), Alex (LowSpecGamer), Maxim Jago (Adobe), LCShadowLady, Matt Gielen, Mike Cook, Tahir Basheer, Cliff Fluet, Ben Jeffries, Hank Green, Rebecca Parham, Matthew Vandeputte, Jeremy Vest, Andy Burgess (Metfilm School), Jesse Latham (therealshookon3), Claudio Barbiero, William Hodgett (GoPro), and many more from travelling the world for multimedia work.

My teaching style is instructional. I want to get the most information out there and pass it over to learners to try on their own. This style is reflective of my teaching style and background; I teach part-time in multimedia, journalism, communications, media and film at two universities. I have been fortunate enough to take video making and YouTube workshops to enhance my expertise, including copywriting and law for Youtube.

I have over 20 years of experience as a certified teacher and because I am serious about the use of video making for and as learning as well as using YouTube with my students, I am able to develop a great online classroom climate with learners and help them learn what they need to get their YouTube channels on a successful path.
