This is a 2-part one-on one tutoring on the biology of cancer cells. Topics covered are great for students in General, AP, or IB Biology or for students who are just interested in how cancer works.

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 12
Beginner - Intermediate Level
To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 2x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.
  • Students will learn: 1) what are the major parts of the cell that play a part in the cell cycle in plant and animal cells 2) differences between germ and somatic cells 3) phases of the cell cycle 4) stages of mitosis 5) definition of checkpoints and how they work 6) the definition of a mutation and what role does it play in the development of cancer cells 7) the types of repair mechanisms that cells contain to repair problems in the cell cycle
Academic background - PhD in Molecular Biosciences (Emphasis on metabolic disease and disorders) 
Postdoctoral fellowship - Mayo Clinic Rochester (Endocrinology and Metabolic Disease)
Teaching Experience - 15 years Higher Education Teaching Experience in the following courses (Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, General Biology, Pharmacology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Bioinformatics)
Students should have a general understanding of what is a cell and the parts of a cell.  
Handouts that will be completed during each session that will be provided at sign-up.  Suggested supplies: notebook paper for notetaking, colored pencils to study the steps of the cell cycle
Biology textbooks from LibreTexts and OpenStax will be used for content throughout this course.
